Here is a happy spring engagement session to brighten your week! Tracy and Darren’s Burlington Ontario engagement photos were just an absolute joy to photograph 💕

Since they had done engagement photos before, we used this time to teach them some poses and really just get to know them! We laughed and joked the whole way through, and even went for ice cream together afterwards!

We asked Tracy and Darren to reflect back on the beginning of their relationship, and we love that they BOTH shared their answers 😍 Enjoy reading them below as you scroll through some of our favorite photos from the shoot!

Q: How did you meet, and what were your first impressions of each other?

Tracy – we met online and talked for a few weeks before finally meeting for drinks on a Sunday evening at Shoeless Joe’s, I remember he wore a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater and the first thing I said to him was “really?!” I’m not a leafs fan. The first date was okay but went well enough to go on a second date two days later which is when the sparks really flew!

Darren – Wow! She was early.

Q: What made you two connect so well in the beginning?

Tracy – we both have the same sense of humor and similar interests. Also we both wanted the same things which was important for me, I never second guessed our future together.

Darren – she is easy to talk to, also on the second date the random drunk guy buying our jerseys off of our backs so we had an instant hilarious story to share.

Q: How did you end up becoming more than friends?

Tracy – about a month and a half after meeting he asked me while we were watching Star Wars. We saw each other every day since meeting.

Darren – I didnt want to spend a day without her, so I asked her.

Q: Who said “I love you” first?

Tracy – he did.

Darren – I did. Like 3 weeks in.

Q: What is your secret to a great relationship?

Tracy – Communicate. Always be open about your feelings whether they are good or bad. I never expect him to know how I’m feeling, he is very good at reading me but I still dont assume.

Darren – Honesty and trust. Make sure you have fun.

Q: What are the 3 best words you would use to describe each other?

Tracy – 3 words to describe Darren: Intelligent. Loving. Strong.

Darren – 3 words to describe Tracy : Loving. Kind. Funny.

Q: Favorite thing to do on a date night?

Tracy – go for a walk, get some ice cream, watch a movie

Darren – go out for dinner and watch a movie

Q: Favorite type of movie to watch together?

Tracy – it’s hard to find them but the type that are so bad and ridiculous that we can laugh through them and make up own dialogue while watching… the best one that comes to mind is The Witch.

Darren – horror movies. Movies that aren’t supposed to be funny but we make them funny.

Q: When were the moments you each knew you wanted to marry each other?

Tracy – Our second date. It just went so so so good that I knew he was meant to be in my life. I still love seeing my facebook memory every year pop up for that day of a status I wrote after the date about what an amazing night it was!

Darren – not necessarily a particular moment. The second date I knew we would spend a long time together. But for marriage it was everything built up before I knew.

Q: How did you get engaged?

Tracy – I worked until 7pm on a Friday night, came home from work and there were rose petals at the front door all through the house (I yelled upstairs to him and said “this looks so beautiful but I have to put the groceries away so you’ll have to wait! I thought he just wanted to get lucky haha oops!) I quickly put the cold stuff away and went upstairs and he had flower petals in a heart shape on the bed and he was down on his knee beside the bed! Love my romantic man

Darren – ditto.

Q: What are some things on your bucket list together?

Tracy – Iceland, Scandinavia, Machu Picchu, Hawaii…. retire in Scotland 

Darren – most of them are travel related, hot air balloon picnic would be cool. New Zealand to see the hobbit houses, Alaskan cruise, anywhere really.
