So you’ve got some new bling on your finger (CONGRATS!), and it’s CRAZY sparkly!! But a few weeks later, you notice it’s not catching the light like it used to… And now your engagement session is coming up and you need to clean your engagement ring so it’s ready for its closeup!

We have good news!

It’s SUPER easy to clean your engagement ring, and you don’t even need to take it to the jeweler! You can clean your ring safely and quickly, right at home!

Here are three easy ways to keep your engagement ring clean and sparkly:

1. Clean your engagement ring at home safely using dish soap

The easiest way to clean your ring is to just use dish soap and warm water! This is totally safe – just make sure you are using a gentle brush!

How to clean your engagement ring with dish soap:

  1. Fill a small bowl with warm water and a few drops of dish soap (I like to stir up the water a bit to get the soap all sudsy!).
  2. Drop your engagement ring (and any other jewelry you want to clean) into the bowl.
  3. Let soak for about 15 minutes.
  4. Use a soft toothbrush or paintbrush with a little more water and dish soap to gently scrub your engagement ring. Try to brush all around the sides of any gemstones!
  5. Rinse your ring.
  6. Let it air dry, or dry it with a soft cloth.

2. Clean your ring at home with the Diamond Dazzle Stik

Another really easy way to clean your ring is by using a Diamond Dazzle Stik! You can buy them on Amazon or even some grocery stores, like Publix!

How to clean your engagement ring with the Diamond Dazzle Stik:

  1. Remove the blue cap.
  2. Wet the brush and your engagement ring.
  3. Turn the silver end until you see the blue soap solution start to come out of the brush.
  4. Brush your engagement ring with the solution – it should get all sudsy just like the dish soap!
  5. Rinse your ring and the brush.
  6. Let your ring air dry, or dry it with a soft cloth.

If you want, you can actually combine this method with the one above, by soaking your ring in warm water and dish soap before using the Diamond Dazzle Stik! I actually think the solution in the Stik is similar to dish soap.

3. Clean your engagement ring on the go with the Gem Pen!

The same company that makes those gorgeous heirloom ring boxes you see all over Instagram has a ring cleaner you can toss in your purse! Instead of using soap and water, the Gem Pen by the Mrs. Box uses a gentle leave-on solution, so you can clean your ring anywhere!!

How to clean your engagement ring with the Gem Pen:

  1. Remove the cap.
  2. Twist the end of the Gem Pen until the brush tip is wet with the ring cleaning solution.
  3. Gently brush your engagement ring.
  4. Replace the cap and let your ring air dry.

4. Take your ring to your jeweler every 6 months or so for a professional clean.

Most jewelry stores these days allow you to take your jewelry in for a clean every 6 months, or even whenever you want to stop by!

For a simple clean, they can do it on the spot, but sometimes they may recommend leaving it overnight for extra service to remove scratches on the band, or to fix any loose settings.

Some jewelers will even clean other jewelry you bring in as well, even if it was purchased elsewhere! Just ask them what their policy is!

If you have an engagement session coming up, or if your wedding is soon, we definitely recommend getting your engagement ring cleaned professionally. Don’t forget to let them know why you want it cleaned, so they know to take extra special care with it 😉

And if you are extra, like me (Micaela), you might even leave your ring in its box after it’s been cleaned, and not wear it until the wedding day! I know, I was a little paranoid, lol! It was so weird having a naked ring finger for a few days, but that beauty sparkled on our wedding day!!
